Horizon House’s “Hope is on the Horizon” Fundraising Event Raises Funds to Support Neighbors Experiencing Homelessness

INDIANAPOLIS – Horizon House’s annual “Hope is on the Horizon” (HIOTH) Fantasy Casino Night, presented by The Netherleigh Fund, brought together nearly 300 attendees at the Indiana Roof Ballroom on Saturday, August 23, 2025, exceeding our goal of $275,000 to support programs and services for neighbors experiencing homelessness in Central Indiana.

The evening combined elegance, entertainment, and purpose, creating an unforgettable experience that underscored Horizon House’s mission to provide comprehensive support and pathways to housing stability.

Emceed by Emmy-nominated journalist Chelsea Helms, the event featured a lively VIP reception with a special performance from country music artist Steven Cade, whose personal journey from homelessness to success deeply resonated with the audience. Guests enjoyed blackjack, roulette, poker, and craps tables, competing for high-value prizes including a $1,000 gift certificate from Moyer Fine Jewelers and luxurious local hotel getaways.

The popular bourbon and wine pull was a crowd favorite, with top prizes including a $250 bottle of Blanton’s Gold Label and a coveted $1,000 bottle of Pappy Van Winkle 12-year Reserve. Live entertainment, specialty cocktails, and a gourmet dinner rounded out the evening, creating both a celebratory and impactful atmosphere.

Proceeds from the gala will be used to help support our neighbors experiencing homelessness.

In 2024, Horizon House assisted an average of 183 neighbors per day through nearly 56,000 visits to its facility and served nearly 8,500 unique individuals across all programs. The funds raised through HIOTH will help ensure that these essential services continue to meet the growing needs of the community.

Sr. Director of Horizon House, Lillian Herbers-Kelly shares, “It was a beautiful event that was filled with caring community members who gathered to celebrate the work that has been done throughout the year and acknowledge and commit to the continued work that is needed here in Indianapolis. We are so grateful for everyone who showed up and gave their time and support toward building the foundations to end homelessness.”
