Horizon House will use the grant money to expand services to help end the cycle of homelessness in Indianapolis
(INDIANAPOLIS, IN): Horizon House has received a $1.7 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. that will be transformative for the agency in our effort to house our most vulnerable neighbors over the next three years. Horizon House will use the grant to expand facilities and hire additional staff to help combat the cycle of homelessness in Indianapolis.
“This grant will help expand our role in the community,” says Horizon House Executive Director Teresa Wessel. “We can offer more services and programs to continue placing chronically homeless neighbors into permanent, safe, and supportive housing so they can thrive.”
The three-year grant is one of 28 grants totaling $41 million that Lilly Endowment has made to help human services organizations and community centers in Central Indiana enhance their ability to meet the needs of the communities they serve.
“Indianapolis has a robust network of organizations dedicated to helping people overcome challenges and begin to build satisfying and self-sufficient lives,” says Lilly Endowment’s vice president for community development, Ronni Kloth. “These agencies help Indianapolis be a more compassionate and caring city, and we hope these grants help strengthen their ability to meet the demand for their critical services.”
